In brief: Depends on DJD

Most good quality studies show that short and long term recovery from knee arthroscopy is directly related to the amount of arthritis seen at surgery.
Knees with minimal arthritis recover from simple partial menisectomy in 3-4 weeks, those with more advanced arthritis can take up to 8-12 weeks. If longer than 12 weeks, the problem may be the arthritis and not the meniscal tear.
