In brief: Gradually...
Perhaps you can take half the dose for a week, half of a half for another week and then stop.
However the best person to decide how is your doctor who knows you best.

In brief: Slowly
Generally recommended to taper betablockers.
Atenolol 50 mg to 25 mg for a few days, then discontinue. If you are going to take another betablocker, you do not have to taper.

depends on how long you have been on it but DO NOT take it every other day. Either you decrease it down to 12.5 and stop or just stop.
