In brief: Consider Lyrica (pregabalin)
A dose (higher dose) of Lyrica (pregabalin) or Neurontin may help.
If possible do this before surgery and into post op period.

Ask about aggressive non-steroidal use.Frequently this is omitted in favor of opiods which don't really address the inflammatory nature of post-op pain.

In brief: Treat Underlying
Any life event can "flare" fms.
Remember that fms makes you more sensative to all pain and that includes postop pain. Postop pain can be treated with nsaids such as ibuprofen, celebrex, (celecoxib) aleve, etc. These can all increase your chances for blood clots so consult your surgeon. Celebrex (celecoxib) generally does not interfere with clotting. Standard fms drugs should be continued or even increased.

Agreed. Surgery is a common cause of fibromyalgia flares. It is important that your surgeon be aware of your fibromyalgia and that plans be made ahead of time to manage flares after surgery if they occur.
