In brief: Probably nerve

Most common source of never compression in the upper extremity is carpal tunnel syndrome, where the median nerve is compressed at the wrist.
It will cause tingling in the thumb, index and long finger and may cause pain in the arm as well. It also could be a nerve pinched at the elbow or possibly a pinched nerve in the neck. This should be evaluated and you likely need an emg/ncv to diagnose.
