In brief: Endorphin release

A large body of evidence proves that acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, endogenous opiate-like substances.
While this explains how acupuncture helps pain, it doesn't explain other proven benefits of acupuncture, so there are obviously other mechanisms at work too (like the chinese concept of meridians). Seenhttp://www.Medicalacupuncture.Org/acu_info/interviews/pomeranzart.Html.

In brief: Acupuncture

There r 14 meridians in the body .
With numerous points , they choose these points based on their indication . But it is well known that acupuncture can increase endorphines in the brain resulting in improving mood and reducing g pain among others.

In brief: Many ways

A number of chemicals/neurotransmitters can be impacted by acupuncture: serotonin, norepinephrine, substance p, gaba, dopamine, b- endorphin, acth, dynorphins, leucine - enkephalin & methionine-enkephalin.
Acupuncture also blocks obstructions in blood flow, lymphatic drainage, nerve conduction and chi. Different forms of acupuncture have different impacts on the body. See below.

In brief: Acupuncture

Needle placement has been associated with an increased release of endogenous corticosteroids that have anti-inflammatory properties.

In brief: Nerves

Acupuncture is hard to translate.
There are points in the nervous system that are sensitive to insertion of the acupuncture needles. If needles are placed by an experienced practitioner they can encourage pain to pass away. This has been used for anesthesia during serious operations in willing patients.
