Over-washing hair? Dandruff (seborrhea) is common. Shampoos with zinc, salicylic acid, selenium, or coal tar are sold in many stores. Nizoral shampoo (contains anti-fungal) is also available. Earlier I'd used Nizoral, (ketoconazole) 8x shampoos fr dandruff. Now a days they are not showing any effect. I was suggested Tony&Guy. Is it good? If not, pls suggest

Have you tried. a coal tar shampoo such as T/Gel? These can be very effective, especially when the other shampoos are no longer working. Alternatives (if you have not tried them) are selenium sulfide or salicylic acid shampoos. As with many long term treatments, it is usually best to alternate use of different types so that the scalp does not develop a resistance (or tachyphylaxis) to a single agent. Good luck! Dandruff. Dandruff is not dry scalp, but an inflammatin of the scalp that produces flaking skin, and often redness and itch. The two major causes of dandruff are seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis.
