Optimal level stress. Stress is not something to eliminate but to moderate. We optimally perform best with moderate stress. Harmful stress can cause: rising blood pressure, decline in performance, sustained inability to relax, digestive symptoms, headaches, chronic pain, insomnia, fatigue, weakened immunity, racing thoughts, undue worry, loss of short-term memory, pessimism, irritability, and self-centeredness.
Stress treatment. There are lots of good ways - healthy diet, light-moderate exercise, yoga, prayer or meditation, distraction with non-stressful activities, resolving the source of the stress, horseback riding, hiking, taking a vacation or time off from work or school, massage therapy, acupuncture, therapy with a licensed professional, and in some cases medications. These are only a few ways possible!
To address stress: Talk about feelings ; address problems. Don't avoid them. Aim for 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep/ night. Daily physical activity is optimal in a green space. Eat healthfully. Cut out junk carbs, caffeine ; alcohol (or moderate).
