In brief: Tough call

Every medication has its pros and cons.
A good practitioner will use the entire medication profile to his/her advantage. First of all, your choice of meds depends on the exact symptoms: is it sharp, aching, numbing, burning? Do you have trouble sleeping, is mood or anxiety an issue? Do you have high blood pressure? Have you ever had an ulcer? Are you over/ underweight? So there's no "best" really.

Pain Management

In brief: No best

There is no way to consistently predict which pt will respond to which med.
It often takes some trial and error to find the right medication for each patient, usually decided based on patient co-morbities. Ie no sedating meds for older people. Nerve pain medications in three main classes. 1. Calcium channel modulators auch as Gabapentin or pregabalin. 2. Serotonin/norepi reuptake inhibitors such.
