In brief: Yes

Typically however only large hiatal hernias, also called paraesophageal hernias cause pain.
Could be the gastritis causing the pain. May want to see a gastroenterologist as well.

In brief: Less likely

The pain is more likely due to the inflammation, but would ask that of the doctor you saw.
