I have fibrocystic breasts but can feel a strange lump that feels ike a hard long string / cord like at the bottom of my breast. What could it be?
A few possibilities. Given your age and history you need a physical exam and imaging of your breast. While this is most likely benign, you want to be assured this is not something more serious. A simple exam with a mammogram and likley ultrasound should easily confirm the diagnosis.
Likely b9 but see md. Likely this is nothing significant with your history of sense breast tissue, however if this is something new and it persists or is worrisome to you then I should get evaluated by your regular doctor or gyn. If u are 40yo or older you might consider getting a mammogram or ultrasound. Discuss next steps with your regular doc.
I have fibrocystic breasts but my gb felt something ages ago that was a mass but it was soft. It has now turned hard is that normal?
Get it seen. If there is something that has been felt and may have changed or there is a lump of some sort, it should be examined carefully. Make sure it is seen by your primary care and consideration should be given to getting a mammogram or other testing done to figure out what the mass or lump is.
Need to see doctor. This is probably just a fibrous cyst but you need to let your doctor check it and send you for a mammogram or ultrasound if they think it is something new,
H/o Fibrocystic breasts, feel lump that is small and moves freely. Period due in 7 days. How do you tell the difference between lumps? 32 year old
Mammogram. Any new breast mass should be examined by a doctor. Most likely a mammogram or sometimes a breast sonogram will be ordered to help distinguish between fibrocystic changes and abnormalities. Never assume a breast mass is normal until it has been properly evaluated.
Yes. The breasts go through changes related to hormone levels, stress and caffeine. The lumps will come and go. It is important to become familiar with your lumpiness and be able to distinguish your normal lump from something that feels abnormal. Anything abnormal should be discussed with your doctor.
Mammogram better. Hello, Yes a physician can have an impression of a benign breast vs. A malignancy. However, Mammogram would have a greater more definite screening than manual exam alone. Also the breast, if fibrocystic may interfere with what we can feel with our hands. The patient also has an impression about her own body and is a reliable source in determining a change in the nature of the breast tissue.
Get it checked. Any lump in chest you feel needs to be checked and investigated at age of 41.It may just be the cysts but get it checked and may need ultrasound exam or other imaging.
If I feel a lump on both breasts is the chances of it being cAncer low? I have fibrocystic breasts also.
Yes, the chances are low, but not low enough to ignore. You should see your physician to get the lumps evaluated. You may need a breast ultrasound or possibly a mammogram.
I have Fibrocystic breasts and new subtle small tubular lump that doc says may be overstimulated gland. Should I worry? Causes pain
WATCH OUT. ANYTHING GROWS FAST, NOT NECESSARILY TENDER, MUST AT LEAST DO ULTRASOUND AFTER PERIOD. BEFORE PERIOD MAY SHOW CYST ONLY TOO YOUNG FOR MAMMOGRAM YET--BUT IF ULT SOUND SHOWED SOLID NODULE, MUST DO X-RAY AND BIOPSY SMALL CHANCE FOR CANCER AT 31YO BUT THERE IS CHANCE IF TOUGH LUCK! TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
Breast lumps. Breast lumps that are tender with a history of Fibrocystic diseases are likely just that. Typically they vary in size and degree of tenderness with hormone fluctuations, caffeine intake, etc. Unusual lumps or persistent tender areas should be checked to be sure. Also if family history of breast cancer always best to err on side of getting checked.
Pain in breast with small tubular lump. Very painful after doc pushing on it. H/o Fibrocystic breasts... Is this just par for the course?
Maybe. But most cysts are diagnosed by ultrasound. Still fibrocystic changes are painful. Comes and goes with cycle. Stay off caffeine and acidic foods some have said have helped.
