In brief: Breast.

Breast milk. Period.
If there is none -- well, traditionally, we start with cow milk-based formulas, and change to others depending on problems that may arise. But breast is best.

In brief: Breast milk

There is no infant formula better than or equal to breast milk.
Scientifically proven benefits? Breast milk contains pre-, probiotics, and IgA (immunoglobulin a) which provide protection against infections involving respiratory tract and gut, i.e., upper respiratory infection and diarrhea. By breast feeding, you can even increase your child's IQ by 4 points.

In brief: Breast milk

Breast is best. If a mom has inadequate breast milk, or if there is a problem with her breast milk, then baby formula is fine to use.
Most formula makers have added omega-3 fatty acids such as dha to their formulas the past few years; so these formulas are the commonly used ones.

In brief: Breast milk

Breast milk is absolutely the most appropriate, complete, protective against diseases milk there is.
And is free and ready to feed ! you will be creating a special bond with your baby from the get go.But of course if your physician contraindicated it, formula is the second best thing.
