In brief: Control-yes. Cure?

Heartburn (gerd) is a pain! many reasons for it.
Usually obese, poor diet and lifestyle, but many are thin, eat properly and it is there. Avoiding fatty meals, alcohol, spices to some extent, avoiding eating or drinking after 6 P.M., elevating the head of bed 6-8 inches, taking antacids, alginates, h-2 blockers like pepcid, (famotidine) etc, prilosec, etc may help. May need surgery to cure. See pcp/gi doc.
