In brief: Yes

Most studies r done on cinnamon cassia-the most common form in the market.
A systematic review of studies have shown some decreases in fasting blood sugar & response to oral glucose tolerance tests. One showed reduction in FBS of 18-29%. No definite conclusions for therapy but it does have anti-hyperglycemic properties. 1, 000mg = 1/2 tsp powdered cinnamon per day is effective or "aqueous" extract.

In brief: Yes

One meta-analysis (pooling data from several studies) demonstrated a 9 mg/dl (0.
48-0.49 mmol/l in si units) drop in fasting blood glucose with cinnamon extract. I do not know how much cinnamon was used in the study; perhaps someone else can comment? (davis pa; yokoyama w, "cinnamon intake lowers fasting blood glucose: meta-analysis."j med food. 2011; 14(9):884-9).
