I have red bumps at the back of my throat? Could that be strep? Or do they have to be white bumps?

Get checked. You don't have to have white patches to have strep. Red bumps can be due to strep or to other things, too. But if you have a sore throat it is always a good idea to get checked for strep to be safe. Strep gets better without treatment, but if it is not treated, you can get rheumatic heart disease and other complications. Get seen. Better safe that sorry.

Depends. Generally, the fevers with group a streptococcus infections are in the 101-102 degree range. If you do not have a fever, it seems unlikely, but you could still have an infection. Be seen and you can be tested. Read more...

Chronic tonsillitis. may be associated with seasonal allergies, chronic sinusitis and possible even tonsil "stones". It is not fun to be sick all the time and be on antibiotics half a year, So, Although it is a painful, "bloody" surgery as an Adult I would consider having an ENT take a look to see if you are a candidate for elective removal of tonsils and adenoids. I have red bumps or blisters in the back of my throat, along with runny nose a cough but no fever. Could this be mono? Strep? Or cold? Help?

Virus infection. That red 'rash' is called an enanthem and it could be from a virus such as adenovirus, enterovirus, or coxsackie - something like that. If this was mono or Strep, those should cause a fever and you would probably be worse. Best to get it checked with a throat exam and diagnostic tests. In the meantime, hot ginger tea or hot lemonade (lemon juice, hot water and honey) may help those symptoms. Read more...

The . The classic strep throat is very red (the description in some textbooks is "beefy red" or the colour of raw beef). Often you will see white or green "exudates" or pus on the tonsils, which are also swollen. You may also see little dark-red, almost purple, spots on the back of the roof of the mouth and on the uvula (the little "punching bag" that hangs from the center of the back of the mouth). The tongue may be very red with little white spots, like a strawberry (the "strawberry tongue") or white with little red spots, like a strawberry dipped in white chocolate. Sometimes a person with strep throat will have very bad breath, but this is not always true. Usually a person with strep throat will have swollen and tender lymph nodes at the front sides of the neck, and the throat will hurt so much that even swallowing liquids is painful. Coughing is rare with strep throat, unlike viral or dryness-related soreness. Temperature may go up to 103 or more. If symptoms persists, go back to your pcp. Read more...
Lymphoid tissue. The tonsils are a big collection of lymphoid tissue that serves to screen the material you ingest and warn the body when germs come in. There is also scattered islands of lymphoid tissue from the beginning of your throat to your anus. The red patches to which you refer may or may not be lymphoid tissue, since the area can all get red with strep, but they are not unusual. Read more...

Days after oral & anal penetration with no ejaculation, I got red bumps back of throat. Went in days after STD results & strep is negative. Now what?

Live. Live. Go about your life. These will heal. In six weeks or so do the other std tests so that you do not worry more than you have to worry. Remember sores can appear in the viral 'flu and cold' seasons without explanation; tissue can react to 'trauma' after giving a blow job and it hitting the back of the throat. You have ruled out strep, which would be my first assumption. So, you are clear. Read more...

Does a sore with red bumps back of throat after oral and little anal with another man resemble STD symtoms. Still there after a month! Strep was negat?

Herpes? It may be coincidental that you have a sore throat post oral sex. It is possible that you may have picked up a viral infection, such as herpes, have gonorrhea or chlamydia that wasn't picked up or tested for previously, or may have been irritated in some manner. I suggest you get re-evaluated by someone who is knowlegeable in mm sex and be honest about what you were doing and your concerns. Read more...
