I'm 19 and have been dealing with lower back pain for quite some time now. Long car rides or shopping at the mall is all it takes for it to start hurting. There is a squishy kind of lump on my spine and the left side is firm. Any idea on what this may be

Could be serious. Chronic low back pain in a teenager is always a concern. This could be due to a congenital defect in the spine or inflammation of the spinal soft tissue. The vast majority are not cancer but simply unusual growths like fatty tumors, cysts, skin tags, moles, etc. Most cause no symptoms and can be watched. If they cause symptoms or change colors, bleed, bruise or hurt, then see your doctor. Read more...

Right side pain and sore lower back pain, very sore, drank a lot of alcohol 24hrs ago. Any ideas?

EtOH-> dehydration. Alcohol dehydation can predispose muscle injury, and also predispose to kidney stones (which can cause back pain on one side- typically sporadically cramping; look for blood in the urine). Avoid tylenol (acetaminophen) with alcohol as both can injure the liver. Drink plenty of water (avoid excessive caffeine as this can also dehydrate). Read more...
