In brief: See your doctor

If your memory is genuinely that bad, especially if it's worsening so that you are noticing (ask the people close to you.
...They may be noticing even more than you are), then you need to be evaluated by your physician.

Memory issues can be a very difficult beast to determine etiology - see your physician. It may include anything from vitamin deficiency to depression or anxiety. Also, depends on age and brain use. There is some truth to the use it or lose it theory. Consider exercise, healthy diet, stress reduction, brain teasers, reading comprehension etc.... keep the brain active.

In brief: Exercise your brain

You may take vitamin E (no more than 2000 iu/week), vitamin c, omega 3 fatty acids, turmeric.
Keep your cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar under control. Exercise your mind by learning new things, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, playing chess. See your doctor early on, so that your memory impairment can be tested and tracked. Prescription medication may be given if needed.
