In brief: Antihistamines

Standard treatment for hives are antihistamines.
Excellent ones are available over-the-counter. Most people like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) - but that's the result of brand recognition. Claritin (loratidine) and Allegra (fexofenadine) work as well & as fast without causing drowsiness. They also last for about 24 hours. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) wears off in 3-4 hours. Look for generics. See your np, pa, or hcp if this doesn't work.
