Increase complex carbohydrates – try to incorporate at least 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit into your diet daily. Try: omega- 3 fatty acids. Try to take in magnesium either through supplementation or through your diet with your doctor’s approval. Non –steroidal anti-inflammatory medications can help with pain control.

If you desire non-medication approaches you can discuss use of a traditional herbal like Black Cohosh with your doctor. Chamomile tea can be soothing. Sipping Green tea can also help to dissipate pain. A small amount of essential oil massaged onto the abdomen can be calming. Consider lavender, rosemary or sage. Stretch your body. Inhale slowly through your nostrils. Fill your lungs and hold for a count of five before slowly exhaling. Repeat 12 times. Heat can relax muscles whether it be from a shower, bath or a heating pad.
