In brief: Laryngeal injury
How long ago did this happen? It's possible that you would have had some voice change or difficulty breathing if you had a laryngeal fracture.
Swallow and gag reflex could be impacted by swelling of the strap muscles that move the adam's apple up and down. You should be checked by and ENT doctor who will likely do a scope to look deeply into your throat.

In brief: See an ENT
If you have a true clothesline injury to the throat.
. You need to be seen by an ent. You could have a fracture of the laryngeal cartilage (adam's apple) with potential for serious/permanent voice injury. If the mucosa (lining) to the throat has been damaged, you could get a serious infection in the chest and neck.
