In brief: Diabetic Retinopathy

Leakage of blood vessels in the retina due to diabetes can cause temporary and/or permanent decrease in vision.
Hemmorhage, cotton wool spots and edema can initially present then proliferative changes may develop and subsequently ischemic changes can occur. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment is warranted.

She may need laser treatment, intravitreal injections of medication or more invasive eye surgery.Aggressive treatment can help in most cases
