Or viral. For significant sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see dr ; get a strep throat test/ culture.
If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice 2x /day.

This is very consistent with a viral upper respiratory tract infection. Only if symptoms are getting worse or persisting over a week might lead a doctor to prescribe antibiotics. Green secretions are usually viral, and I general antibiotics will not help.
