In brief: Not very
Small incision in chin or at buccal sulcus (valley between lip and gums).
Can be done by cutting bone and placing spacer or with implant. Little is involved in recovery other than protecting it from injury.

In brief: Chin augmentation
Chin augmentation can be done with fillers or a solid implant.
Fillers are a great way to "try on" a new look, are highly customizable, and last for about 9-12 months. Solid implants can be perform under local anesthesia with a small incision in the mouth or under the chin. Swelling lasts for about 1 week and discomfort is minimal. Hope this helps!

The average filler costs about $500-$600 per syringe (1-2 may be needed) vs. surgery which might range from $2000 to $5000).

In brief: Chin Aug Recovery
Chin aug recovery recovery from chin augmentation surgery will vary with the the type of implant and incision used, and whether other procedures were done at the same time.
The chin augmentation recovery process is not considered to be painful relative to other surgeries; oral medication will control pain for the first few days, and after that no pain medicine is typically needed. https://pacificcenterplasticsurgery.com/procedures/face/chin-augmentation/.

In brief: Can be small
Chin augmentations can be done with a small silicone prosthesis, a bone graft or even by cutting the jawbone and sliding it forward.
Each operation is more complex in nature and requires more medical care post surgery. The silicone implant can be inserted easily, and give a nic conservative chin improvement.

In brief: Chin implant
Chin implant is a minimally invasive procedure.
A small incision is created under the chin in a skin crease or behind the lower lip. Most swelling is gone between one and four weeks. Most patients return to work within 7 days. I hope this information is helpful. Stephen weber, M.D. Lone tree facial plastic surgeon.

In brief: Depends
Chin augmentation can be done with an implant or using your own bone.
It involves an incision either in your mouth or on the underside of your chin. Recovery is fairly quick, but expect some bruising & mild swelling for the first week or so. You also may have some temporary numbness of your lower lip for a short time after.

In brief: Which technique
Minimally invasive techniques with fillers can be achieved using injections only with virtually no downtime or recovery.
These tend to be temporary with results lasting around a year. See the following link for an example: http://www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=ujykbfgzewy.
