In brief: Not normal

Hope UR seeing a good urologist who should be kidney stone expert.
Pain from kidney stones usually signifies some element of obstruction. Good Luck.

In brief: Possible

Chronic kidney pain is not normal but is seen in a number of patients.
This is often seen in patients with stones but not necessary. May also be associated with trace blood in urine (loin pain and hematuria syndrome). Good pain management is important.

In brief: Not normal, but.....

It may be expected if you have chronic infection or due to stone disease.
Make sure your urinalysis is normal. Discuss with your doc if you need to see a nephrologist who has interest in managing stone disease. His job will be to prevent increasing stone disease burden and to make sure your parathyroid (not thyroid) is not hyperactive. Urologist is the only one who can remove stones if needed.
