In brief: Mirena (levonorgestrel) & fertility

It is unlikely that Mirena (levonorgestrel) when removed will cause fertility problems.
If you haven't been infected with a sexually transmitted infection when the iud was in place it's unlikely to cause fertility issues.

In brief: Unlikely

An iud removed without complications (e.
g. Removed because no longer needed for what it was intended for (contraception, heavy bleeding) or it has expired) would not cause infertility. If you have not conceived after 6-12 months of unprotected intercourse after removal of iud, reasonable to consider having an infertility evaluation. If suspect sperm/ovulatory abnormalities, may evaluate earlier.
