What is the best treatment for bronchitis?

Depends.... There are 2 types of bronchitis: acute and chronic, each with different therapies. Acute bronchitis is usually due to either a bacterial or viral infection of the airways. The bacterial infection is treated with antibiotics while the viral infection is treated symptomatically only as antibiotics don't treat viruses. Chronic bronchitis, a form of copd, is treated w/ inhalers, oxygen if needed, etc.

Asthma at times can be misdiagnosed as bronchitis. Speaking with one's physician should help define the best treatment. Read more...
