Can an appendectomy be done under local or general anaesthetics?

General anesthesia. Appendectomy is generally done under general anesthesia. While I have done them under local anesthesia, it is not in the best interest of the patient and surgeon to do so.
General. Appendectomy is typically done under general anesthetic. In rare or in emergency situations, local anesthetic technique can be used with an experienced surgeon but the patient would likely feel a lot of pressure discomfort during the operation as well as referred pain.
