In brief: Depends!
Such a big question for 400 characters.
For most, it will be a great experience. For a few, it will be stressful. Ask your family members and friends that have had babies, and your physician as well. It will be a new experience for you no matter what! make sure your doc or midwife answers all your questions before you go into labor. A tour of l and d is usually available.

In brief: Life in L&D
This is too varied to sum up in 400 characters! to best prepare yourself for *your* l&d experience: 1) take tour of l&d at the hospital where you plan to deliver and 2) sign up for their prenatal classes.
It won't be like tv and every labor is a little different, but this can orient you to some of the things to expect when that special day arrives.
