Is it safe to get an amalgam filling on my teeth?

Yes. All scientific studies have proven no harm. Some are concerned with mercury. They are less expensive and long lasting. There is some concern that over time they will weaken teeth and cause fractures. They are not esthetic. Look worse with age. We do not do as many of these type of fillings. People prefer the bonded white resin fillings. Very good material.
Yes. Amalgam has been used safely forever. Very few people cannot tolerate amalgam however with all the great, new, tooth colored materials out today, amalgam is not used as often now as years ago.
