Are farts infectious? Technically, they should be like coughs, with germs in them.

In brief: No

If true we would be taking antibiotics 24/7.

In brief: Unlikely, but...

A fart (passing gas) is a type of air going out the rectum and containing tiny airborne droplets or particles of material from the rectum and anus, more likely when the "farter" has diarrhea or passes gas at a "high airspeed".
They should not be infectious if the gas passes through 2-3 layers of clothing, but it is possible to pass infectious stool germs if farting is during oral sexual activity.

In brief: Smelly, not germy

Good question! farts are "the gas we pass, " like the name of the great kids' book.
Since it's not full of germs, it's not contagious like a cough.
