My dr choked my hormones&my testosterone levels are really elevated&the others estrogen is low. Dr put me on progesterone 10%cream. Seen no difference.?

High and low. Female cyclic hormones like Estradiol (estrogen) vary widely in a pattern during a cycle, so it's usually not helpful to call estrogen 'high' or 'low' without regard to when in the cycle it was done. How high was the testosterone? I don't understand what the reason for Progesterone cream to treat (?) testosterone would be, maybe to start a new cycle? Read more...

My estrogen, progesterone & testosterone levels are extremely low- as is my dhea & vitamins d & b considering pellet therapy. Is this best? I'm 38.

NO cures. First see an endocrinologist to find out the cause of the low levels, if they are really low in a reputable lab. Bring your labs with you. Pellets, popular in australia, are used by too many ill trained people in the us. There are many other options to explore if you really are deficient. Read more...

It varies. Just wanted to say: my belief is that transdermal route of administration is best for estrogen and testosterone; and oral is best for dhea and Progesterone if you have problems with sleep dysfunction (the p4 gets conv'd to metabolite w/gaba activity that helps w/relaxation).But best therapy is what helps u feel best.Remember: blood testing has very limited accuracy if using topical products. Do I have estrogen dominance? I have pcos, acne, high fsh, normal testosterone and slightly high androstenedione.

Unsure. First of all if you have a high fsh value that is not consistent with pcos. That would be more indicative of ovarian failure. So first you need to make sure you have the correct diagnosis. But in general with pcos most women have symptoms from male hormone dominance, but since ovulation does not occur regularly, the uterus has estrogen dominance. Read more...

Do I have estrogen dominance? I have pcos, slightly high FSH & androstenodione and normal testosterone. I have acne too.

Yes, but complex. Pcos is associated with irregular ovulation. Infrequent or absent ovulation can lead to infrequent, irregular, or even heavy bleeding. Women with pcos may have difficulty conceiving, as ovulation doesn't regularly occur, but don't assume you can't get pregnant--either on your own--when you do ovulate, or with fertility treatments. A high fsh isn't usual with pcos and may have other causes. Read more...

Does high androstenidione level in a girl with pcos imply that she has estrogen dominance or low progesterone?

Unclear. Usually, patients with pcos have normal adrenal hormone levels- normal androstenedione, normal dhea and normal 17 hydroxyprogesterone- the most common finding is isolated high free testosterone. The problem is lack of ovulation and excessive production of male hormones in the ovary. I would ask your doctor to clarify the elevated adrenal levels. She may need more evaluation. Read more...

Possibly. Your symptoms would be consistent with pcos. There are treatments depending on symptoms, but important to be evaluated. There can be complications associated with the chronic high estrogen levels associated with pcos. Read more...
