How long does renal cell carcinoma take to spread? Been 3 months since found. Authorization taking awhile. Labs say hasn't spread to other parts yet.

In brief: Variable

Tumor size is usually calculated to enlarge in terms of "doubling time".
Spread of tumor through the lymphatic system or bloodstream is highly unpredictable, but typically measured in weeks and months.

In brief: Variable

Some rcc's are very slowly growing and can take years to spread.
Others are more aggressive and can spread over the course of many weeks to months. Labs (eg blood work) cannot tell if the cancer has spread or not; imaging studies like ct, bone scan, or MRI do this. Authorization for treatment should not take 3 months. You should check back with your primary doctor and urologist.
