Will an epi pen help during a severe asthma attack until I can get medical care?

In brief: Yes
Epinephrine is old school - that's the way asthma was treated 30 years ago when access to nebulized bronchodilators like albuterol was limited.
Another thing you can do in a severe asthma attack while waiting for help to arrive is to take an additional 2 to 4 puffs of your rescue inhaler. Either of these emergency actions will buy time but you need to get to the er or your doctor's office now!

Asthma is an allergic condition. Consider seeing a cChinese Medicine practitioner to help balance you and strengthen your immune system. It can help reduce frequency and intensity of asthma and asthma attacks over time. In conjunction with medical treatment have seen great results in my patients.

The midst of a severe asthma attack may not be the optimal time for contemplating balancing or strengthening your immune system. After your western-trained ER physician has saved your life & acute symptoms have resolved you may consider any modality of treatment - Chnese, Ayurvedic, Naturopathic, Homeopathic, perhaps even Western that makes sense to you.

If your attack is that bad it may help until 911 arrives.
You should never be without an inhaler and a face mask as you may not be able to breathe in or even use a chamber if very anxious . Wear a bracelet too!

It will help to open your airways up but the real treatmement is steroids.
These need to be started before the Epinephrine wears off (~15-30 minutes depending on blood flow). If you are needing your epi-pen you should be calling 911 too.
