In brief: Try few others

Surprisingly, medicine within same class may have totally difference side effects.
Elavil is highly sedating to many. You may try cymbalta, (duloxetine) prestiq or luvox. You many have luck with another ssris, such as Lexapro or prozac.

Atarax, (hydroxyzine) is a very safe anti-anxiety agent. It is an antihistamine. Dose is 10 to 25 mg.

In brief: OCD

Interesting choice of medications as there are only certain medications that have an indication for ocd.
The ssri class of meds like prozac, paxil, (paroxetine) luvox, zoloft have OCD indications. The tricyclic, Anafranil also has this indication. You may need to try another one of these medications or work on the sedation aspect if they help the ocd. Also need to do behavior modification therapy.

In brief: Other SSRI

You might do better on a different ant-anxiety drug, such as zoloft (sertraline) or celexa- ask your doctor.

In brief: There are others

Other possibilities are: 1.
Ssris: fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft), citalopram (celexa), lexapro 2. Buspirone (buspar) 3. Snris: venlafaxine (effexor) 4. Cognitive behavioral therapy one has to proceed methodically, one medication at a time, as it is impossible to predict in advance how you'll do on any one medication. And, btw, wellbutrin (bupropion) helps depression, but often worsens anxiety.

Paxil (paroxetine) and Elavil are especially sedating.
Wellbutrin is not effective for anxiety. Might try zoloft, prozac, Lexapro or celexa. Check with your doctor.

In brief: Buspirone

There is a medication for anxiety you haven't listed - buspirone, has great antianxiety qualities, would not make you sleepy.
