Is there a good alternative to a surgical facelift?

In brief: Not really

A facelift will reposition the soft tissues of the face to a more youthful position.
The current emphasis is much more on fat repositioning than fat removal. A facelift will not treat fine wrinkles in the skin. Surface treatments such as skin care, peels, and laser treatments will do this, but will do nothing about sagging soft tissues like a surgical facelift.

In brief: Facelift Options

A facelift (and accompanying procedures) is the most powerful tool to lift sagging skin and soft tissues around the mouth, jawline, and neck.
The 2 limiting features of a facelift are 1) volume and 2) skin quality. Both are critical to restoring a youthful face and can be addressed with 1) fillers (several varieties) and 2) laser resurfacing or newer deep tightening procedures like ultherapy.

In brief: It depends

The short answer is that there is no nonsurgical treatment that does what a facelift does, which is a 3-dimensional rejuvenation.
There are treatments such as thermage and ulthera which can help with skin tone and lifting in patients with minimal to moderate skin laxity. Other options address volume issues such as liposuction or fat grafting, or injection of other fillers, but nothing does it all.

In brief: Possibly

There are no topical treatments, injections, or other nonsurgical options that can obtain the results of a surgical procedure.
However, not everybody has the same needs or expectations. Often nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, injectable fillers, creams, etc. can give you the results you are looking for. I suggest you consult with a plastic surgeon to really delineate what is best for you.

It depends what you are looking for. Lasers and chemical peels can make the skin's surface look better. Fat injections or fillers can restore volume. But nothing else corrects skin laxity and sagging like a facelift does.

In brief: Not really...

Surgical facelift is the best way to restore the facial soft-tissues to their natural, youthful position.
Although fillers and other injectables can replace lost volume, they cannot address excess, or sagging, skin.

In brief: Depends on you

Facelifts can be a very powerful 3 dimensional repositioning of tissue.
This cannot be done with botox, laser, or fillers. Best to see an experienced surgeon and see what is best for you.

In brief: Facelift alternative

Depending on your age, skin quality and elasticity, facial structure and facial volume, you may be able to achieve moderate rejuvenation without a facelift.
When skin and structural elements need to be "lifted", a surgical facelift is usually the most effective.

In brief: No

You can buy time with fillers and topical treatments (lasers), but in the end there is no great substitute for a surgical facelift.

In brief: Options for face

Significant facial aging will require a facdelift for correction.
Milder aging can be remedied with injections using Botox and/or fillers (juvederm, radiesse), skin care (peels, light laser treatments), and treatments like titan which slightly tighten the skin tone.

YES ! Your treatment alternatives depends on how you currently "look" and what your vision is as to how you want to look - is this possible.
? Thus, a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should help you answer your questions.

In brief: Sometimes

Sometimes drooping of the lower face can be explained by a lack of supporting bone structure or a precipitous loss of supporting facial fat with aging.
In those cases, replacing volume with cheek implants, fillers or injectable fat, can make a substantial difference. However, there are no easy fixes out there and facelift remains the clear gold standard for aging of the lower face and neck.

In brief: Not really

Certain refinements to your face can only be done through a lift.
There are other things you can consider. For example, if you have submental (under your chin) fat, then Kybella is a new alternative to liposuction and offers some skin tightening. You could also consider cool sculpting in that region. Microneedling is another option which increases collagen and overall firmness to your skin.

In brief: Facelift alternative

A facelift rejuvenates the face by repostitioning sagging tissues and removing excessive skin.
While resurfacing procedures can tighten and improve the skin, and ultrasound procedures can tighten the underlying tissues, and injectable fillers can volumize the face, none of these procedures can accomplish what a surgical facelift does.

That depends on exactly what sort of changes you would like to see in your appearance.
I would recommend a consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon. The most important part of the consultation will be trying to determine what your goals are. Your surgeon can then make recommendations for the best ways to reach your goals.

In brief: Alt to facelifts

Restoring volume with fillers can create a liquid facelift in the office.
Facial liposuction with or without thermi rf to tighten the skin can give nice improvement with minimal incisions. Kybella is a nonsurgical injection in the office to dissolve fat under the chin. A double chin can make one look much older than their age.

In brief: Liquid Facelift

A facelift contours and lifts loose neck, cheeks and jaw tissues with your final result looking radiantly relaxed.
An alternative to surgery are the use of fillers, i.e., Radiesse, (dermal fillers) Volume, Juvederm to fill the mid-face or contour areas that have lost volume. However, if your neck and jawline are the issue than a carefully planned facelift will rejuvenate all. www.artofplasticsurgery.com

Younger patients can have volume added to their face to replace what is lost with the aging process and put off a face lift.
Using your own fat is attractive because it is a natural material and you lose fat from an area that it is unwanted eg tummy

In brief: Ultherapy

Though it is not a replacement for cosmetic surgery, ultherapy® offers meaningful improvement for lax skin with no downtime.
Reversing the effects of time and gravity, ultherapy® lifts, tones, and tightens loose facial and neck skin. Once your brows begin to droop, your eyes begin to look small and tired. Ultherapy® lifts your forehead, opens your eyes, and creates a more refreshed, alert appearance. When your cheeks and neck begin to sag, it can change in the entire contour of your face. Ultherapy® tightens and lifts loose neck and jowl skin, creating a younger, sleeker look.

In brief: Sometimes

As we age fat in the mid & lower face descends creating fullness of the smile fold and prominent jowling.
Laser assisted facial contouring (lafc) can dramatically improve jawline contour and soften the mid face. Fractional co2 laser skin resurfacing and/or selectively replacing volume may be beneficial also. If significant skin laxity is present lafc should be combined with a surgical facelift.

In brief: Fat Injections

The alternative to a traditional face lift procedure is a fat injection procedure.
Fat injections, or fat transfer, restore volume to the face . It is your own tissue and these injections last longer than synthetic fillers like juvederm or botox. For the procedure, fat is extracted from unwanted areas, processed, and then re-injected back into the face. Ricardo rodriguez, md baltimore, marylan.

Certainly there are optio s such as fillers, botulinum toxin, laser resurfacing or non-ablative techniques but they are unlikely to achieve the same results and longevity of a facelift.
