In brief: Renal Failure&stroke

Problem is you usually don't notice anything.
If hypertension persists untreated it can lead to renal (kidney) failure, stroke, heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, etc. At the very least, you can get your blood pressure checked in many supermarkets or pharmacies at their automated blood pressure machines. Desirable results would be less than 120/80 mm hg.
