In brief: For research only
Genetic studies of familial prostate cancers are currently under way.
If there is a strong history of prostate cancer in your family, the national cancer institute may be interested in speaking with you to see if you are intersted in providing blood and or tissue samples.

New discoveries are made everyday regarding the genes prostate cancer.
We know that prostate cancer has a genetic component, making it more common in descendents of those with prostate cancer. And we are discovering polymorphisms (variations) in prostate cancer genes that one day may allow us to not only predict which individuals are at risk but also predict who will have more aggressive cancer.
