In brief: Cholesterol Janitor!
Hdl stands for high density lipoprotein, aka.
The "good cholesterol." it runs around, sweeps up cholesterol, and delivers it to the liver. Having low HDL is linked with having more heart attacks. We don't know yet if increasing your HDL will decrease your risk for heart attacks and strokes. *but* we do know that exercise is good for you, so keep on moving at least 30-60 minutes every day.

In brief: HDL
A protein that carries cholesterol in the blood stream from the blood vessels back to the liver. Commonly referred to as "good" cholesterol such that higher levels are protective to blood vessels from developing atherosclerosis.

In brief: Good Lipoprotein
Hdl is a class of lipoprotein particles that have a variety of functions which, collectively, reduce risk of cardiovascular disease (cvd).
The most notable function is reverse cholesterol transport (rct), the process by which cholesterol is mobilized from areas such as plaques back to the liver. Hdl also is an important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory particle.
