In brief: Could be

Your so called " 9 month bronchitis" might actually be a TB infection of the lung and that ciould be the reason/link that now you are tested for urinary tb.
Your doctor should know about your bronchitis history. In addition to the test that did to rule out urinary tb, you also should have some work up -including an imaging of the lung- and sputum samples to really rule out lung tb.

In brief: Possible

The lung infection that you had a few years ago may be related to TB.
Other more common causes of bronchitis include community acquired viruses. Imaging, cultures of the urine, blood and sputum may be sent to screen for TB and routine bacterial cultures. TB may be detected by a smear of the sputum viewed under the microscope as well. A culture will be used to confirm the result.
