In brief: Several options...

Hpv therapy falls into two general categories.
The first is direct destruction of visible lesions using either cryosurgery (freezing), mild acids, podophyllum, electrosurgery ("cauterization") or laser. The second is prescription topical medications used to destroy the lesions and/or eliminate the virus. These include Aldara (imiquimod) cream, veregan ointment and condylox (podofilox) gel.

In brief: Depends

The type of treatment of hpv is not dependent on age.
It depends on several factors including the number of lesions present, the size of the lesions, and their location. If small and few in number, topical agents may be used. If large or in a difficult/sensitive area to treat (such as urethra), then excision may be performed, laser may be used, and possibly may need to be done under anethesia.
