In brief: Tums/Calcium tablets

For kids with milk intolerance or allergy its important that they have a source of calcium to build strong bones.
The fat/protein/sugar & fluid they can get in lots of places. I've found that most simple calcium containing antacids like Tums (calcium carbonate) willprovide a simple solution, 1-3/d depending on age. The fruit flavored wafers are a favorate.

May also consider the use of calcium and enriched rice milk, or almond milk, or soy milk or calcium enriched OJ as a food source.

There are now a variety of alternative sources such as leafy green vegetables, soy milk, almond milk etc.
Consult with your doctor or a dietician. Also refer to dr ferguson's answer.

In brief: Soy milk

Soy milk is an excellent alternative with easily digestible protein & an excellent source of calcium. Almond milk is fine as long as your child is not allergic to tree nuts.
8% of children with cow's milk allergy can tolerate goat's milk; 92% can't. Dr. Ferguson is correct. Once a child takes a variety of table foods the only special nutrient in milk is calcium available as Tums (calcium carbonate) or fortified o.J.
