In brief: Yes

"pink eye" can be caused by many things from dry eyes, allergies, inflammations, eyelid irritations, viruses, bacteria, malpositioned eyelids, poor blink mechanism, environmental, chemical, etc.
These all have varied treatments. Discharge, like mucous, and tearing are protective mechanisms or ways your eyes respond to irritation. Infections produce much thick discharge. Your eyes may just be dry.

In brief: Dry eye/ blepharitis

Your description sounds like dry eye/blepharitis.
Initial treatment is frequent artificial tears during the day, ointment at night, warm compresses a few times a day, and omega-3 fatty acid supplements. If no improvement, you should see an eye doctor for further evaluation.
