I went to see my gp on monday as I have a pulsating right ear, accompanied with cold/sinus pain. The pulsating ear is still there.

See below. Sinus infections and head colds can cause fluid to accumulate behind the ear drum and even an ear infection. You may need an antibiotic if there is a bacterial infection although most of these cases are due to viruses and will not improve with antibiotics. Decongestant pills (sudafed) and nasal sprays (afrin) may be helpful in addition to a mucus thinning medicine like mucinex (guaifenesin).
