In brief: HTN & renal failure

Htn (hypertension or high blood pressure) is one of the two leading causes of chronic renal (kidney) failure.
Diabetes is the other leading cause. Many people have both HTN and diabetes! when kidneys shut down, many body systems suffer: heart, bone health, red blood cell production, etc. When kidneys stop functioning, kidney transplants or dialysis help; there's no substitute for healthy kidneys!

In brief: Renal failure

Htn is a common abbreviation for hypertension (high blood pressure).
Long-standing, untreated hypertension frequently results in damage to the kidneys with the end result that the kidneys begin to fail.
