In brief: Yea

This does appear to be unusual and should be further evaluated by a physician such as a dermatologist or endocrinologist.

In brief: No

Hair loss is multi-factorial: genetics, stress, hormone problems, thyroid problems, mental illness, male pattern baldness, trauma, etc.
The most common pattern that i see in my practice revolves around the genetic component. Teenage males can definitively have a receding hairline...Most likely due to genetics. Review by surgeons who offer hair transplantation is recommended. Multiple options.
