Help! My husband snores super loud! Is there anything, med or a trick that can make him stop snoring?
Sleep Study. He may have sleep apnea - a condition that can effect his wellbeing if he is not breathing well at night. Get a sleep study to rule this out. Yes - there are some common procedures that can help with snoring. They usually involve improving the anatomy of the nose or the soft palate (back part of the roof of the mouth). Medications probably won't help and may make the situation worse.
Easy things first. First, start out with avoiding alcohol at night, having him sleep on the side, and start a wt loss regimen if he is overweight. If he has loud snoring, observe him to see if he stops breathing at night. That is a sign of sleep apnea which can be serious and significantly affect his quality of life. It can have significant health consequences if left untreated. An ENT visit might be worthwhile.
