In brief: Over the counter

If over the counter anti-inflammatory medications do not help then it may be useful to see a physician if pain continues past a few weeks.

consider ice. Cold will help relieve muscle spasm. A massage (even ice massage) is wonderful medicine to separate over riding muscle fibers. A B-complex vitamin. Stretching. And then there is muscle relaxants at your local doctor. He has patches too=Lidoderm, Flector, and A mixture of medicines can be placed in a patch by specialty compounding pharmacies
