Help please! Is anyone aware of any alternatives to "midol" as an aid to an extremely painful menstrual cycle?
Lysteda. There is a new drug called Lysteda designed to minimize bleeding in women with heavy periods. I have been very impressed with it so far. By cutting down the bleeding, pain seems to improve dramatically. Ask your doc about trying it and let us know your experience.
Many options. Different kinds of midol (complete, er, teen, liquid, etc) contain different pain relievers, including acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen; they all act differently in the body, and are effective for cramping, especially ibuprofen, so find what's right for you. You may also want to consider talking to your doctor about other options for painful periods, such hormonal birth control methods.
Pamprin. Try pamprin.
Yes. Try aleve (naproxen) 1-2 tablets twice daily with meals.
