In brief: Physical therapy

The best thing you can do 6 weeks after an ankle sprain and you are still having pain is physical therapy.
You need to do rom exercises, balancing exercises, heat modalities, cold modalities , electrical stimulation. If these don't help, you may want to see your physician for nsaids or steroid injection to help with the inflammation and pain.

In brief: Exam & phys. therapy

With 6 weeks and no resolution of symptoms, you should be examined by your physician.
Physical therapy may still be useful to help maximize your functional recovery.
