I've been waxing my bikini for years but this last time it was red for days then turned brown. I was not in the sun. What caused this and what do I do?

In brief: Inflammation

Redness may be irritation from the waxing process.
Repeated episodes of inflammation can cause darkening/hyperpigmentation of the skin. Good idea to moisturize area&/or use aloe vera or small dab of Hydrocortisone cream to soothe skin after waxing. Dermatologist may be able to provide treatment to lighten skin again.
