In brief: Precautionary

No one knows exactly what causes guillain-barre syndrome or why some people get it and other do not.
Most people who get guillain-barre syndrome do so after having a bacterial or viral infection. In some cases, it has been connected to certain immunizations, such as the flu vaccine, and can even occur spontaneously.

In brief: ACTUALLY, NOT CLEAR

During prior flu seasons, espec.
With influenza a, seemed to be an association with guillain-barre and flu, but also seems association with campylobacter jejuni, and ebstein-barr virus. Article in new england journal of medicine cast great doubt as to whether any relationship to any vaccine, but many physicians remain reluctant. Maybe, ok to get dead virus injection, not live nasal virus.
